Rocketboom

I like to check out Rocketboom – they are a breathe of fresh air and positivity amongst so much of the stuff that we see on the net. But this report on the Roflcon was very thought provoking, the are talking a lot about mems and how they affect culture. The last comment at the end (whic includes a group hug)  is actually a very interesting idea.

Check it out!

New Cat – Just a short post!

Well we have a new cat in our lives! His name is Harley and he is a fine chap – although not a Ginger cat he is of great character and very fluffy! He has black socks (I’ve never had a cat with black socks before – white ones yes but never black socks!) He likes smoked salmon and has a purr like a 1964 Volkswagen beetle.

He is a very nice chap to have around, and he loves people – he also snores rather loudly!

Stan and His leaves!

Stan our cat probably didn’t have good eyesight. Although he was the runt of the litter we made sure he was well fed (ourselves and the a large number of cat cafe’s in the neighbor hood made sure of that!) and he grew up to be a big healthy adult ginger cat. The eyesight thing probably had a lot to do with the story that follows.

Something else that I have considered  is that  Stan was a very smart cat and may have realised us humans didn’t like live / dead small animals so instead he brought us leaves! What ever the reasons for this phenomenon it was a beautiful thing for an animal to do.

Often in the summer, late of an evening we would hear this meow. It was a particular type of call that he let out and it was due to the fact that he had a huge rubber plant leaf in his mouth! He would proudly bring it in and give us this offering and it was an act of some considerable effort on his part.

We worked out that the nearest rubber tree plant in the neighbour hood was about 500 meters or longer away. He would have had to jump over fences and thru gates and keep an eye out for dogs, other cats and cars. But often of an evening there would be Stan proud as punch with his leaves.

Some times he couldn’t quite get the leaf to us and half way down the path one would find a rubber plant leaf. You could always tell it was Stan’s as there were teeth marks in the leaf.
